| I have just migrated from 98se with which I have been very happy for many years to XP. When I log onto the internet, the dial-up screen comes up with a password, (starred out), longer than the 5 characters I use. I have been into internet options, and control panel, but no matter how many time I save my password, it always comes up with this other one. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? TIA -- Carpetmonster | Guest

You're not doing anything wrong. This is normal behavior. The displayed password is extra long so that nobody looking over your shoulder has a head start on guessing what your password is by knowing how long it is. The password you enter is the one that's used. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup | Guest
