It is now called check disk. Click my computer, right
click the drive you want to check and select
properties, tools tab, and in the error checking section,
click check now.Automatically fix file system errors
check box, is the same thing you had with scan
disk....Good luck.

There is no Scandisk program for XP. Use Chkdsk instead.

Edmund, go to the Hard Drive Manufacturer's site and download a
diagnostic utility to check the drive.

Look for Disk Error Checking. "Scandisk" is so 90's.

- Open My Computer
- Right-click the disk you want to scan and go to properties
- Click the Tools tab
- Click the Check Now button

P.S. You can also open a command window (Start\Run and enter "cmd") and use
"chkdsk". (Enter "chkdsk /?" at the command prompt for help.)
