scratchy windows media player

i have been playing songs on my windows media player 9
for a long time and everything has been working fine. But
now every time I play a song, it is all scratchy like the
quality of the song is really bad. I know the songs
aren't the problem because they played perfectly before.

could someone please help

Scratchy Windows Media Player

Lately my Windows Media Player has sounded very distorted and scratchy whenever I play music. I checked the sound levels and they are normal. Interestingly, when I play a video, it looks and sounds great. This problem has just recently occurred. I have the latest version of Windows Media Player. But I have absolutely no clue how to fix this annoying problem. Could someone please help me?
