| My screen saver won't work and I get a pop-up message"A Monitor Rule was detected for the application system". I'm brand new to Vista and would appreciate any help. I am using a Microsoft wireless mouse. Thanks -- Ed "Dibren" wrote: Quote:

| Ed This is a configuration error message usually initiated by Norton Internet Security. I don't have any other information except that it is probably a setting in the Norton Firewall. You need to contact Norton support to resolve this. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "judgeefh" <judgeefh@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A57C95D1-EDB3-4CAE-B99A-692CE72B7C4F@microsoft.com... | My screensaver is fine, but on my last computer (XP) I was able to use my pics from Kodak Share as the screen saver. I would love to be able to do that again, am on Vista now, any suggestions? Thanks, Patricia "Ronnie Vernon MVP" wrote: Quote:

| Patricia Open Control Panel and go to Personalization/Screen Saver. Use the drop down menu to select Photos. Click the Settings Button, click teh Browse Button and select the folder where the pictures are located. You can also select the speed and theme for the display in that dialog box. Click Apply/OK. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "PatriciaMae" <PatriciaMae@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news A524F62-F610-41DA-B839-88369A49D88A@microsoft.com...Quote:

| I am also trying to figure out how to make a screen saver run while the computer is set to the log in page. I have a log in for the kids and do not leave my account logged in. Did you find a resolution to this? Thanks "POWorker" wrote: Quote:

| -- Ronnie, I followed your directions with the Task Manager, and voila my screen saver is working. I don't know much about computers and I was frustrated because my beautiful screen saver of my daughter's wedding worked fine in XP. I also rebooted after I changed things.....Thank you, thank you! | Hi Ronnie, I am sad to say that the screen saver only worked for a few minutes and then went black. ( It not only happens with my photos, but also with thescreen savers that came with my computer. I just bought this computer this week with Windows Vista. This is very frustrating. Calling the Computer Geeks at Best Buy is a big joke. They never answer the phone. Seeing that it still doesn't work, should I deselect the End Process from the Task Manager and reverse the procedure that I did hoping to get the screen saver? If I don't, will it have any negative effects on my computer? I don't have a wireless mouse, it's a Logitech, whatever that is. I would appreciate anything else you might suggest to fix this. Thank you, Rosy PS: Does Bill Gates ever answer his phone? )-- "Life is a gift, enjoy the present" "Ronnie Vernon MVP" wrote: Quote:

| Hi Rosy, By default, the monitor is set to turn off after a certain amount of time. You may need to either adjust the timeout, or stop it from turning off altogether. Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Power Options. Select "Change plan settings" for your power plan, then adjust the time before Windows turns off the display. You can adjust the timeout for Sleep there too. "Rosy33" <Rosy33@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CF0C49F3-2039-463A-A960-E18EA6558ADD@microsoft.com... Quote:

| Hi "Not Plain" Jane, I followed your directions and so far so good. It does make sense that it would be the monitor that went off and not the screensaver! We shall see....Thank you. Rosy -- "Life is a gift, enjoy the present" "Jane C" wrote: Quote:
