| by screensaver, do you mean the little icon pictures beside your name? If so they are called avatars (just for future reference ;D) If so then goto control panel then user accounts. Under make changes to your account is the option to choose a different picture. If you mean the log in back ground then no sorry I cant help you. | No, I meant the screen saver. I know how to change avatars. -- Trifles make perfection but perfection is no trifles (Michaelangelo) "stuart richards" wrote: Quote:

| Only option I can think of for screensavers (i dont have them turned on cos i just turn my monitor off if i leave it for any length of time - personal choice) is to log in on the Administrators account and change the screensaver on there, it may or may not work but its an option - you may have to go into safe mode as i believe its disabled by default on normal running. Wasnt trying to be rude with my previous post, but i have had a LOT of experience in the past of people wanting the "screensaver changng" only to find out they meant the background or the avatars, so sorry if it sounded condescending "POWorker" <POWorker@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news DFCD470-2EA7-4B7B-9419-69FC6ED0A32A@microsoft.com...Quote:

| In Win2000/XP, you can change it in [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]. Find the SCRNSAVE.EXE key and change it from logon.scr to whatever you want. Don't know if Vista has the same registry key / structure or not. Regards, Dave "stuart richards" <marchupcs@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:5D5B538C-96AF-4F5F-A217-8CEE847B520D@microsoft.com... | Hi Bill "Does not work" covers a lot of territory? Can you be a bit more specific and tell us exactly what is happening? Are these the standard screen savers that came with Vista? Which version of Vista did you install? Do you have the Aero features enabled? -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Bill" <Bill@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news 42F98DA-B00D-4E05-A05C-218626F3BB9C@microsoft.com...Quote:

| Bill Sorry for the delay. Try this: Open Taskmanager/Processes Tab and look for the ehtray.exe process. If it is there, right click this process and select End Process from the menu. Test the screen saver again. If no joy, take a look at the following articles and try the fixes there. The screen saver does not work when you use a Microsoft wireless pointing device: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895 The screen saver does not start after you install the Wireless Optical Desktop device: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913405 -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Bill" <Bill@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:958D6A7E-816B-425B-BC26-A99E855BA139@microsoft.com... | Thank you so much for this information, I have been nearly tearing my hair out to find a solution to what seemed to be such a simple problem. Have done as suggested and will now test my screen saver, which has never activated since I purchased my new PC with Vista Home Premium pre-installed last month.
