Seagate Tape Freezing During Install

Posted: 02-16-2004, 07:14 AM
I installed a Seagate STT320000A 10/20 GB Travan into a
pre-exisiting XP Home install. Drive worked initially
right after drivers were installed, but after reboot, the
box freezes at the Slash screen, the bar stops moving. I
can physically remove the drive and boot from last know
good.

I installed BIOS updates for the PC, tried changing its
location on the IDE cables, slave to master secondary to
primary, to cable select.... PC is a Gateway PERFORMANCE
1000.

I installed XP Pro on a new drive, fresh install and it
also freezes at the splash screen, but the bar keeps
moving...

The drive does work in another XP pro box, so there must
be a hardware conflict somewhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
