Security Center doesn't start

Posted: 01-19-2009, 01:04 PM

A few days ago, I had a warning that Security Center wasn't running.
did a full system scan and found out that the computer was infested wit
a trojan attack. After hours of frustration and several hijackthis logs
I finally managed to clean the computer (I'm %99 sure it is clean). Bu
Security Center still doesn't start automatically. Each time, I have t
start it by right clicking in the 'services' list. I guess it's a damag
done by the trojan, but is there a way that I can fix it? And mor
importantly, can this be an indication of another serious problem
Should I be freaked out

1. Your computer may still be infected.

2. And/or the damage to the Operating System caused by whatever you had is
too great.

You may want to check in at the forum where you got the HijackThis help.
Otherwise, to be 100% sure your computer is completely virus/malware-free
and works correctly, back up your data and do a clean install of Windows.

When you right-click on the Security Centre entry, select ' Properties' and make sure
it is set for ' Automatic (Delayed start)'.
If it is then check on the Dependencies tab and you will see that RPC and WMI are listed.
Maybe one of these services is not running.
