seriously bad? please help!

I was trying to install windows xp on my comp, which is 2
years old, 700mhrz 256 megs ram, and my hard drive is
completely formatted...
i try to load the bios off the boot cd of windows
professional, but it gives me a general protection fault
(trap 0000000D) I cannot figure this out at all, i have
tried sys c:, fixboot, fixmbr, everything! I just cant
install anything! i have tried to install xp home AND
professional, nothing works, so something bad mustve
happened to my comp?

any help would be greatly appreciated!
