Default Set up a home network?

I am probably thick but I just want to be able to set up a network. My sons
computer is running XP professional and he is connected to me via a wireless
router. My computer is running vista home premium and for the life of me I
just cannot set up the two computers so they can see each other. The only
icons I can see is the residential gateway and my PC. Why can't I see my sons
computer when we are both connected to the same wireless router? I have read
and read the information on Vista and XP but I just keep going round in
circles. Please help, the lad only wants to access the music on my computer.

You posted twice, but didn't say anything either time.
