Set up Microphone

there is no Other command available...looks like the problem is within Yahoo
configuration

Microsoft sam is a text to speach engine for the visually
impaired or those people who are really bored it also
uses alot of system resources, line in is most likely
your problem however your sound card must have a line in
jack as well

Line-In is for inputing a CD player, cassette player, record player, etc. If nothing
is plugged in to Line-In, anything you do to the Line-In Volume Control will have no
effect on anything.
You do not need to be concerned with Speech Recognition. It is NOT installed on you
computer. (No SR tab on Speech). You just want to use the mike as an input.

From XP HELP:
To set up a microphone:
Microphones vary greatly in design and purpose. They will continue to develop and become
more specialized. Consult the microphone manual for hardware and software specifics;
however, most models install in a similar fashion.



1.. Locate the sound connections and connect the microphone jack to the computer. Most
computers use an internal sound card and often the connections will be in the back of the
system.
2.. These will be a series of connections the same size and diameter as the microphone
jack. One will be labeled as the microphone connection, either with a small icon that
looks like a microphone or explicitly labeled as such.
3.. Plug the microphone into that connection.
4..
Try the following to test your mike:

To open Sound Recorder, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to
Entertainment, and then click Sound Recorder.

To record a sound:
1.. Make sure you have an audio input device connected to your computer.
Example of audio input device: microphone.
2.. On the File menu, click New.
3.. To begin recording, click Record . Say a few words.
4.. To stop recording, click Stop .
To play a sound:

1.. On the File menu, click Open.
2.. In the Open dialog box, double-click the sound file you want to play.
3.. Click Play to start playing the sound.
4.. Click Stop to stop playing the sound.
Does your mike work now.
