setting to remember names and places, like e-bay names...etc.

I cant find the setting to remember my search places. I know that at one time I was able to just type one letter and I would get a list of what was related t othat letter or the word I was reffering to....I would like to know how to get this setting back, I use e-bay alot and it comes in habdy for this action.
