setting up networkin between 98 / xp

Trying to set up a home network with a windows 98
computer and a windows xp computer. I keep getting an
error mess and can't seem to find the right correction.

There's not enough to go on here.

We'd need to know the details of your network physical setup.
How are the machines connected?

How are you attempting to access the other machine?
You'd need to tell us the exact text of any error messages.
What are you doing when the message appears?
