I am currently trying to upgrade Windows 98SE to Windows
XP Home Edition. To start off, I had to copy my I386
folder from the cd-rom to my hard drive and launch the
installation from there because I was getting errors that
were causing setup to fail. I thought I had fixed all my
problems, but then a new one surfaced. During the
installation, I get the error "setup cannot copy the file:
shell32 dll" and then have the option to either retry,
skip, or quit installation. Retry doesn't work, so I
click "skip" instead. Afterwards, setup gives me an error
stating that it cannot continue without the shell32.dll
file, and I have to end my installation.
Does anybody have any idea what I need to do to fix this?
I'm frustrated as can be, and am ready to just give up
completely. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
