Shared Documents Folder

You would expect to be able to SHARE the SHARED DOCUMENTS
folder. We have a 5-user Quickbooks office and cannot
access date on any Windows XP computer. Thank goodness, I
could copy the data files to an older Windows ME computer
so we can access what we are SUPPOSED to be able to
access. I tried MS Knowledge Base Article 326549 using
the attrib command (and I'm an old DOS person, so I know
how to do it) but it still did not allow access to the
files. Any suggestions?

Shared Documents is designed to be shared across every user on the computer,
which is its true purpose. However, you can also share this folder over your
workgroup. What I suspect is that you are having issues with permissions.
When you connect to another computer in your workgroup, you authenticate
using the credentials you logged in under. As a result, if there isn't an
account on the computer you are connecting to with that name, then
authorization will fail. You may want to experiment with simple file sharing
or using the networking wizard. Also, are you using Home or Pro edition?
They have different networking features (Pro has more, as you would expect).

Shared Documents Folder

Unfortunately my computer crashed and I'm having to reload
it, however, before I format, I need to retrieve one file
from the Shard Documents Folder. I can boot into Safe
Mode with Command Prompt, but I can't seem to find the
path to this folder. Can anyone help me?

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.

Thanks.
