| I have a Windows XP Home desktop connected to a printer via USB and, I have a Windows Vista Premium laptop connected through a wireless network. Print jobs initiated from the laptop hang up in the print queue with a print error, and also show up on the desktop under the print jobs as a print error. Print jobs iniated from the desktop work just fine. Please help with a solution to my wireless network printing problem. | Guest

successfully transfer a file both ways. If not, please see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx Post back if you need more networking help. 2. Did you install the printer on the Vista machine? This means going to the printer mftr.'s website and downloading the Vista drivers for your model printer. 3. What printer make/model? | The Answer to questions 1 and 2 is yes. The printer model is an Hp All-in-One G55. If I try to execute a print from the Laptop-wireless-desktop-USB printer, the message ends up stuck in the print queue with a print error message that is also shown on the print queue of the desktop. I guess that indicates that the network is working properly, but the print won't execute from the laptop. Any other ideas you have would be apprectiated. "Malke" wrote: Quote:

Network (LAN) wirelessly. Wired or wireless, it's still connecting to the same LAN. According to HP's page here: http://tinyurl.com/2e6663 "The driver solution for this product is included in your Windows Vista operating system and is already on your computer. There is no need to download anything . Follow the steps below to quickly and easily get your product working with Windows Vista..." So I'm not sure what you downloaded. Go to HP's site above and see what they have to say. Apparently only basic drivers are available but you should still be able to print. | I started to download the Hp drivers on the laptop and Vista blocked the download and said it already supported the Hp G55, so I am using the Vista provided drivers for the G55. It still won't print. I appreciate your help. Do you have any other ideas? "Malke" wrote: Quote:

two computers. If the two computers can really successfully share files, go to the printer on the desktop and make sure it is shared for Everyone. Once you have done the above, try adding the printer on Vista as follows: Vista - How to install a printer that is connected locally to another computer if the driver installation routine doesn't help: Go to Control Panel. Choose Printer. Then choose Add Printer. Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next. A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\FullComputername\SharedPrintername ex: \\mycomputer\HPDJ Click Next. Under the Manufacturers list, select HP and the correct printer from the Printers List. Under Do you want to use this printer as the default printer select "Yes" and click Next. When asked to print a test page, select "Yes", then Finish. Where it says \\mycomputer\HPDJ above, this is where you want to put the correct name of the desktop computer (Control Panel>System>Computer Name tab) and the name of the printer as you chose it when you set up the printer sharing.
