Sharing "My Documents" folder in XP Pro

Posted: 10-31-2003, 04:48 PM
We have a 6-user LAN using the networking built in to XP.

On one of the computers, I want to share the My Documents
folder for the default user. Even though I have set the
folder up to be SHared, I am unable to access files in
the folder, and get an "access denied" message. I have
tried disabling the "simple file sharing" option on both
computers to no avail. How do I permit others to access
files in the My Documents folder for this computer? (I
am able to share files in My Documents on my own
computer).

An additional, critical point. Two of the computers in
our network still use Win 98. They are able to access the
My Documents folder on the XP computer; so it is only the
other computers running XP that have the problem
accessing the folder.

Un-share the folder, make sure that simple file sharing is disabled,
then re-share the folder.
