Sharing a printer on a XP Home network

Posted: 12-03-2003, 09:00 PM
I have a home network consisting of two pc's both running
xp home and have zonealarm installed. the are networked
wirelessly through a linksys router.
I want for the laptop to be able to print on the printer
that is connected to the desktop's computer. I've enabled
sharing on the printer connected to the desktop and have
file and print sharing turned on on both machines but
cannot get the laptop to see the printer, much less set
it up.
When I select add printer then browse for printer on a
network to connect to, nothing shows.....what gives??

Thanks,
Brad

I am having almost the same problem but I've gotten the
laptop to recognise the printer. The difference is my
printer is hooked up to a computer running windows 98. I
tried to print a test page but get an error message and
the printer does not print out. Please help.

Thanks,. Cheryl

Are both PCs in the same workgroup... this is really a basic networking
question and should be posted in the networking newsgroup rather than the
printing one.... I believe it is probably more to do with the ZoneAlarm than
the network if both PCs are set correctly for Sharing and are both on the
same workgroup.
