Sharing Windows Vista Desktop

Posted: 11-13-2008, 04:39 PM
I have a small home network of 5 computer a mix of Vista and XP. I want to
share the Windows Vista users desktop on my network. I know it shouldn't be
done but I'm a fan of dragging and dropping thing from one computer to the
other and i like to place the stuff right on the desktop of the other
computer so when I move to that system it's right there. Can someone tell me
how to do that in vista? thanks Rodger

If your running Vista Ultimate/Business editions then Remote Desktop
would work. If your running Vista Home/Basic editions look at Virtual
Network Computing [VNC] as an alternative.

If you were running an all Vista network then Windows Meeting Space
would be an alternative.

I'm not trying to use remote desktop. Over my home network I want to access
the desktop of my other computers, I can do it with XP. Vista when I go into
the \\dad\desktop I get an error which reads "\\dad\desktop is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions". All my vista computers are Home Premium. So I think i've
figured out the folder to share just having trouble with permissions. I share
other folders on the same computer just can't share that one
(c:\users\owner\desktop).
