I am looking for a digital camara that has a good continous shooting mode for
shooting action shots. I am not trying to morgtage the home to purchase this
item... Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

I always use Canon Camera's for shooting sports. The EOS Digital Rebel takes
some fantastic action shots.

Would be difficult to argue against Canon 300 (or Rebel).
There is a new Canon 350 (or Rebel XT) coming out next month.
So you may want to hold.
However, if you shoot sport and you are away from the action you need good
zooming capabilities and with these Canon cameras you will need to purchase
a zoom lens to replace the normal lens supplied with the camera. Not cheap.
You can go to the following sites for camera reviews and see what you like,
within your budget.

Go witih the Nikon D70 its a little bit more in cost than the EOS Rebel but
it has a faster fps "Frame Per Second" than the rebel and also the Rebel is
limited to about 4 shots in a row as opposed to the D70 has a limitation of
about 140 frames in a row. Also you get a better body rather than being
plastic like the Rebel you get a metal body. The D70 also comes with a
better lense stock, its a 18-70mm lense which gives you a nice wide angle
shot and has some good zoom. Hope this helps!

If you don't need an SLR, try the Canon G6 (7 megapixels). I have a G3 (4
megapixels) and use it regularly for shooting "action" shots of my 6
grandsons at their sporting activities. Both the G3 and G6 have a 4X optical
zoom. The G6 is around $550.
