Hi Nick,

Start/Run: chkdsk

Shortcut: Right click the Desktop/New/Shortcut: chkdsk

Disable or Enable CheckDisk Upon Boot (Line 82)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Thanks, Kelly.

I'm familiar with chkdsk.exe but it is there a way to modify the command
so Windows will automatically 'fix file system errors' and 'scan for bad
sectors'? When running error-checking the standard way, there are two
boxes which I check to perform these functions.

Most welcome, Nick. Will check more into this for you and post back some
time tomorrow. Here are the commands for both chkdsk and defrag:

[..\ChkDskPath] - For the disk repair utility (chkdsk)
Default XP: "%SystemRoot%\system32\chkdsk.exe %c:"

[..\DefragPath] - For the disk defragmenter
Default XP: "%systemroot%\system32\dfrg.msc %c:"
