shorter names, without descriptions

When mapping a drive under xp, a user sees something like this in the
explorer window:
ShareName on 'servername' (R

We want to be able to customize so that these names are much shorter. Like
just the letter.

Also, under network neighborhood a similar problem is that all PCs display
with their description. Just one the short server name to display
