The company I work for has just launched Windows XP this
past month.

One of the features that I have learned in the transition
is customizing the "Quick Launch" toolbar. I use it all
the time for the 5 or 6 applications I use frequently.

One icon I would like to add is one for the "Show Desktop"
command. I know this is possible because my coworker has
this set up. Unfortunately he doesn't remember how he did
it.

Can you tell me how?

Right-click on your Taskbar and select:
Toolbars > Quick Launch
The "Show Desktop" icon will appear on the left
side of the Taskbar.

Open the Help and Support Center and search for: quick launch. Select the
article 'Add a program to the Quick Launch bar.'

Wow!

This is my first-ever post to a Microsoft newsgroup and I
am impressed!!

I appreciate the variety of approaches to tackling this
problem. In case you're curious, "I used the copy and
paste these 5 lines ..."

I tried to search for the Showdesktop.scf and I couldn't
find it. I'm not sure why but I don't really care since I
now have a working icon.

Thanks for your support!

One of the wonders of Windows is that there are usually several different
ways to accomplish a task. There are also many thousands of ways to kill
your system. I know, because I tried them all in my new user days.

exactly the reason new users should be offered free user
services from some of the computer stores. radio shack
