sidewinder big anoying problems

hi, i purchased a microsoft sidewinder mouse about 2 or 3 months ago,
have treated it with care, never had anything spilt on it, no damag
wotsoever
recently... about 3 weeks ago i noticed that during game or desktop
would be moving my mouse and it would suddenly stop, completely
it would do this for about 4 seconds and then start working again
about 40% of the time that it does this is it makes the window
"connect/disconnect new hardware" sounds
this puzzled me and i wondered if it was a software problem, so afte
many troubles i finally uninstalled intellipoint and the mouse driver
and reinstalled them
i have since also changed usb port but to no avail
this problem continues but instead of it being 3 or 4 seconds before i
starts working again it is now 10-15 second breaks where it stop
working completely
i am certain that my wire is not faulty as my wires do not move at th
back of my mouse and it is very random

Please please somebody help me, i am even considering a full reforma
because its so anoying
