I stumbled into some information and thought I would share it so if it comes
up as a question later, the information will be available.
In checking my event logs, the System log reports on every bootup:
Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The
file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash
could indicate a potential disk device error.
File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\drivers\a tksgt.sys
File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows\System32\drivers\l irsgt.sys
Checking the details of the files, they simply say "System File", no
company, no copyright, no version, no info of any kind. I thought I might
have some kind of spyware/virus but checking google it turns out these are
parts of TAGES copy protection.
There was no clue of what they belonged to but checking creation dates I
tracked them down to be part of the game Silverfall (at least they were
installed at the same minute). My system seems slower than it should be, I
think I will uninstall Silverfall (average game anyway) and see if it makes
any difference. I find it disturbing that the files do not seem to be valid
and are probably hooked into my disk drives.
Note: the Silverfall folder includes a TagesSetup.exe which is version
5.5.2.1 dated 1/31/2007
