sims 2 PLEASE HELP!

This has been the most aggravating computer issue ive ever had. The only
advice i get is to do things ive already done. Ive got the basic stuff under
control. everything on my computer works perfectly EXCEPT the sims 2 i dont
have any other games so i dont know if the problem is with all games or not.
"direct 3d failed to initialize make sur 9.0c is installed on your system"
thats what i keep getting over and over and over again. anyone who is well
versed with directx please help me! i just want the lousy thing to work.Here
