slave hard drive trouble

i have xp home, i instaled a slave hard drive that i put
files into and now when i try to get back into it i get a
error message when i try to access any thing on it but
when i go into safe mode i get in just fine.
when i click on the folders tab in the tool bar i folder
stops responding and i have to use task manager to end
not shure if this is related but thought i would mention
it any help would be great.
