Slow Boot on XP Professional

will agree that 512MB is the minimum required to have XP
run at top performance and to give you the most pleasure
from your system. You must be sure that you are not
loading an excesive number of programs at boot and that
you do not have any files or programs on your desktop-only
shortcuts. BootVis will optimize your boot sequences and
speed up boot up times. Defrag and run chkdsk. Get a good
registry cleaner like JV16 Power Tools. Get a
spyware\adware remover like SpyBot Search and Destroy. Run
the cleanup utility and put a check mark in all boxs
accept the compress old files. Check your boot paths and
set the timeout to around 3 seconds. That should be enough
time to allow you to choose what you want or let the
system choose. For that go>start\run and type in msconfig
and then click the boot.ini tab and then the check boot
paths button. If you need more help there are registry
changes that can be made to boost performance under your
adverse conditions(slow processor and not much RAM) e:mail
me if you like. Keep smiling.
