Slow start up due to AVG 8.0

I recently installed the paid version of AVG 8.0 Although the program works
well, I have noticed that my start up time has increased from 1 minute to 4
minutes.
Does anybody have a similar experience or a solution?

Did you replace another Anti-virus with AVG. Could be that the old A
wasn't uninstalled correctly, particularly if it was Norton

You need to look closely at your settings/preferences.

Sounds as if you have it scanning something on startup.

I have disabled the automatic scanning at a preset hour

That won't affect startup. Did you set a boot scan at startup?

That's what I am thinking too. Check your AV settings. I us
Win-Patrol to give me a delayed start for my Antivirus. This allows m
to boot and get on with stuff while the AV loads and scans

All good stuff. I note however he has installed the Pro version an
has therefore probably paid for it. AVG is not so bad that you'd thro
good dollars away to replace it. Take the earlier advice, check wha
is being scanned at startup and install free Win-Patrol to delay the AV
start-up
