I assume you meant to say you can't send.
Is Free.fr your ISP? If not, who is?
Are you traveling with a laptop?

You did not respond to my question about traveling with a laptop.
The reason I asked, there often is a 'port 25 block' problem when
attempting to use one's home ISP SMTP server while away from home.

If that is not the issue, try removing and then reinstalling your email
account. Norton Antivirus often leaves the email account corrupted
even after it is uninstalled.

Gary,

I'm having the same general problem as Olivier.

I usually access my email from my office desktop using MS Outlook.

I recently bought a laptop to use while traveling. I can receive email
on my LAPTOP, however I cannot send mail using this account even when I
shutdown AVAST and Zonealarm.

Here is the msg I get when trying to send => "The connection to the
server has failed. Account: 'jagratzol', Server: 'mail.tss.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E"

You mentioned when posting to Olivier: "You did not respond to my
question about traveling with a laptop. The reason I asked, there
often is a 'port 25 block' problem when attempting to use one's home
ISP SMTP server while away from home." Can you please elaborate about
the 'port 25 block' problem.

The so-called 'port 25 block' is an anti-spamming measure that
has been adopted by most providers of Internet connectivity.
Basically it means you will not be allowed to use port 25 SMTP
unless that server is on the same network as the one providing
your Internet connection at that moment. This policy causes a
hardship for travelers. There are some workarounds:

1. Use webmail.
2. Use a port other than 25 for SMTP, if your mail provider
has a provision for that. Typical alternate ports are 465 and 587.
3. Get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and
use it for your sending chores.
