What kind of computer is it?
May need updated driver for your sound card or the card may be incompatible
with xp.....
could be a few things possible here.

I need some help. I installed XP Professional over XP and
my sound device was removed or cannot be found. Does
anyone know where I can download a sound device capatible
with XP Professional, etc.

Respectfully

Larry :-)

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there

or sound controller. You may encounter this error message
for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit
other programs that may be using your sound device, and
then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To
troubleshoot the problem, see the Sound Troubleshooter in
Windows Help or refer to your sound device's

You download XP sound drivers from the web site of the sound card or
computer manufacturer.

You'll need to find the drivers for the onboard sound. First place to start
looking would be the website of the PC manufacturer.

Every time I restart my computer the sound device is disabled. To restart, I
must delete the device (SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio) using Device
Manager and then have the computer "re-find" it and install it again! Can you
help with a solution?
