Sound driver problem

Posted: 01-24-2004, 09:46 PM
for some reason my sound driver appears to have disappeared, however, when i look in the hardware section of sounds and audion devices in control panel it is there and is working fine

I am running xp on a TINY pc. with legacy audio drivers, audio codecs, and avance AC97 audio

Everytime i try to run a sound file it says i have no audio device or there is a problem with it. The day before this happened all was working fine

I have read of similar problems and am planning to reinstall audio drivers but ppl have been saying that this doesnt work, will i need to reformat hard drive because i had to a few weeks ago and it is the most annoying thing you have to do with your pc.

that's not the problem..its the drivers..even updated drivers messed me
up..use the cd labeled drivers you have.

i h8 to be annoying but i am new to all this could u give me a brief tutorial of how to do this

Do i just put cd in drive and install or do i need to go, and uninstall the existing drivers

If i need to uninstall the drivers is it just the legacy stuff that i mentioned before? or all of it

Go to trouble shooting under sounds and follow their advice for sounds..when
they ask for drivers disk..put in your (drivers) cd and correct drive its on
(E-F-H whatever) and follow what they say..it worked for me..one thing about
posting sound problems here..not many replies..I know been here asking...
plus read a lot of posts.

im not sure whether my system driver disk actually contains the audio drivers that i need. I looked on the internet for the drivers but have no idea which is the right one to download. I let the disk autorun and there were no audio drivers listed what so ever which is why im doubting that they were on the disk

What should i do next? The steps you said were helpful but I got stuck when it said the disk didnt contain hardware infomation.

Without the disk you have to fine the makers of your sound card, go to their
web site and search for drivers.
Try this site: http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

PS: Possible on a floppy disk also check what you have.
