Sound just stopped working

Just last night, while nothing was playing on my laptop PC (musicmatch jb) my
speakers let out a sharp static sound and then no sound came from my speakers
after that. I've spent hours all night and all this morning running virus
scans, doing windows updates, and troubleshooting my device manager. Nothing
has worked as there is still no progress. The only sound i do get is when
headphones are plugged in and all the volume is turned up and music is
playing but all i hear is a crackling static sound. I don't know how this
happened but i desperately need to fix my speakers or sound hardware. Can
anybody please help me????
