sound permission

Hi!
I have a Realtek AC97 onboard soundcard.
It works just fine when I add my user to Administrators
group but if I remove myself from the Administrators group
I don't get any sound. It seems like the program
trying to use the sound card doesn't have access.

If I try to play Windows startup sounds under Control panel
it gives me this error message

I also checked device manager to see if any device drivers
arent installed properly but everything was fine.

I have spended hours searching for similar cases.
There are some occasions where people had similar problem
but none of them had any reasonable solutions.

Also visited

and tried everything under the section ...
Where did my Sounds go?
and there was no result!

I dont think the problem is in the sound chip/driver or
in the fact that it is onboard because I manage small
network off PC's and they all have the same problem.

Any ideas how can I solve the problem?

You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. Manoj Keswani Windows XP Network & Web 1 10-04-2003 02:35 PM
