SP1a

Whenever I download and install SP1a I'm never give the
ability to put the downloaded install files on a disc to
have later (I usually format my computer every 3 months or
so to get rid of junk that seems to accumulate) it would
be nice to have the sp1 pre downloaded and right there to
install instead of losing the 20 or so mins it takes my
cable internet to download it. I know there's a way to do
this for a lot of people have suggested to let friends do
it... well I'm the friend and I need to do it. help!

Scott.

http://download.microsoft.com search for SP1a.
Find the 'network download' version, save that, and then
burn it to a CD.

Hi Scott,

Something else I use which you might want to try.

You can download the updates from Windows Catalog to your Hard Drive and
install them from there.

Go to the update sight and sellect "Personalize Windows Update"

Select to have the catalog added to See Also, Than access the catalog and
download the updates you need, and save them to a drive other than your
system drive or burn them into a cd.

I'm trying to download the SP1a to CD so that I can
reformat my HD.
I have broadband, but my broadband supplier suggests
loading SP1a before I use the broadband. I already had
SP1a loaded previously but wish to be able to upload from
CD once I have reformated.
How do I do this, all the sites I have looked at want to
automatically install the SP, not save to CD.
Please help.
