SPeakers

I have Vista Premium, DFI INFINITY NFII ULTRA with Realtek ALC650 onboard
sound. Since installing Vista I have lost my 5.1 speakers Creative.
I just have the option for stereo, and that only comes out one speaker. Any
way of setting up my speakers I have missed?

Hey there --- not sure if this will help you, but on my Ultimate install with
the Realtek 6.0.1.5374 (1.60R) release drivers installed, the settings in the
Windows in-built dialog for speakers doesn't always match the settings shown
on the Reltek HD Audio Manager. Check to see if the settings are the same on
each?

The speaker set-up is in Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Sound:
select the output (speakers?) --> configure (not Properties).

Anyway yes - it might help

(Look under products, "pour femme". I had no idea that speakers were for
women.)

They're just analog speakers, that get their audio signal through a standard
1/8" stereo plug. The operating system is irrelevant to that; if your
notebook has a 1/8 output jack (the sort used for compact headphones), it'll
work.

The speaker is powered off the USB port. That would increase the drain on
the laptop's battery, but you didn't say whether you wanted something that
could run without an external power source.

It's also possible to buy speakers that get both power *and signal* through
USB. (That would be good for a PC that has no audio output, but I expect
that doesn't apply to your laptop.) Here's a relatively inexpensive pair:

I have no recommendations. I've only used speakers with desktop PCs.

Return address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

You are using 'passive' speakers. There is a requirement for an amplifier
because your feeds a low power signal to its own outputs

An example of what you need to get sound through your speakers..
