speed

Could you be so kind to help me. I have a
laptop "Satellite 5100-503" with Widows XP installed. The
problem is that my internet connection works slowly when
the AC adaptor is on (about 20 kb/ps). But when the
computer works with the butteries only (AC adapter is
off) the speed is OK - about 50 kb/ps. It does not depend
on AC adapter was on or off in that time when I install
the internet connection, if during the work in the net I
switch AC power on or off - the speed is changing too,
but in the same time the indicator of speed on the task-
bar is not changing the number of speed. What adjustment
do I need to do to have a high speed with AC power, and
can I manage it myself?
I will be very thankful for your help.

Your AC adapter is damaged and sending a radio-type signal
into the computer which is interfering with the modem. You
can get a new and better ac adapter with better sine wave
filtering. Toshiba might replace your adapter if you
complain.
