| Greetings John, Spell checking everywhere in the Office suite -- Messenger is not part of the Office suite and does *not* have a spell checking feature. There are some third party utilities to do this however, like: http://www.interactivegt.com/ ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "John J. | Yes Jonathan I understand that.... was just sort of thinking since it was the same company and all it could be an add on or an option if you installed the office products... silly me. Thanks for the link, John "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" <msnewsreplies@jonathankay.com> wrote in message news:%233djHl6pDHA.1724@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... Quote:

| Hi John, Unfortunately not -- but it looks like (at this point), the next version of Windows will allow spell-checking in most applications that want to take advantage of it (I assume of course, Messenger will). ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "John J. | You mean next version like in Longhorn (due in 2005 or something) or do you mean next version like is SP2 (due in 2004)? Oh by the way that link you sent, the "MSN Messenger 6" label has a red line so I guess it is not compatible. You don't happen to know if there is an SDK for MSN? All I have been able to find to date on the matter are unsupported attempts to interface with it. Thanks again, John | Guest

| Hi John, Yes I mean Longhorn and I haven't actually tried it with MSN Messenger 6, but I assume it doesn't work (since they have stroked out). There isn't a SDK, but there is some MSDN documentation here (for Windows Messenger): http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en...nger_entry.asp There is no (official) documentation on MSN Messenger APIs, although you might find something here: http://www.msnfanatic.com/forums/index.php?showforum=57 ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "John J. | Jonathan, If you are interested this is the response I received from that link you sent in regards to the spell checker... Regards, John //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////// Microsoft Corp. completely changed user interface in MSN Messenger 6. Unfortunately, they do not provide documentation for this new interface, called DirectUI. So, our programmers can't handle with it, until appropriate documentation will be released. When Microsoft Corp. will release documentation for DirectUI, we try to add support for MSN Messenger 6 to our spellchecker. You can try using MS Windows Messenger 5. It has almost the same set of features as MSN Messenger 6. You can learn more about Windows Messenger at http://www.microsoft..com/windows/messenger/. Regards, Alex parkhomenko | Guest
