Posted: 09-08-2005, 02:04 AM
When I boot up xphome sp2 on AMD athelon spoolsv.exe is running sucking up
100 CPU usage. when I open task manager to end process it comes back. How
can I stop this?? Naturally, the computer is running extremely slow and is
unusable.

Thanks for any help,
Tim

Ran into a similar problem recently. It turned out that a print
job sent to an unavailable network printer was stuck in the
print queue. Canceling the print job from within the Printers
and Faxes folder didn't help. It wasn't until I deleted the
contents of this folder, C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS,
that the problem was resolved.

You might want to try the following:
Right click the icon for each of your installed printers in the
Printers and Faxes folder and select Open from the drop down
menu. If you see any documents listed, right click on them and
select "Cancel All Documents". If this doesn't correct the
problem, try deleting the contents of the folder I listed
earlier.

The problem was in Image Writer, print jobs were pending, cancelled all
print jobs and problem was fixed
