spoolvs.exe Why always on?

Hello.
The 'spoolsv.exe' process is always running in the task manager. This is
something that has only started recently. I've set the service to automatic,
so it should only come on when it is needed. But is on all the time whether
I'm printing or not. If I end the process it only comes back on a few mins
later. I don't want to permanently disable it as I want to carry on
printing.

I've checked in all the printers and virtual printers and there are no
documents in queue.
Finally I decided to uninstall all the printers and printer drivers in one
last attempt to switch it off.
So now I have NO printers in the Printer Folder, or printer drivers in the
Server properties and yet the spoolsv.exe process is still running. It
comes on at start-up and is not doing anything. I am really at a loss. Can
anyone please suggest why its doing this and how to configure it to only
come on when I'm printing something?
Thanks.

Goto services.msc -> "print spooler" -> Properties -> Dependencies and check
the components that depend on this service.
Mostly this list in not empty and that might be the reason for the service
to start.
