This may seem like a repeat, but I checked out the http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm site and didn't find anything. The whole string that I get is 0x1000008e (0xc000001d, 0xbf820b68, 0xf449f698, 0x00000000) followed by win32.sys error (I will edit/repost the exact message when it happens again) This is a fresh install of WinXP Home on a newly formatted NTFS 80gig WDS drive. Mobo is asus A7n8x, cpu is an AMD Athlon 2400 Thouroghbred and a Nvidia Geforce 3 ti500 (pretty sure that's the right one) I have reinstalled all vid drivers many times putting in the ones nvidia gives me as well as trying the ones Win Update gives me. Ram checked out a-ok on memtest program. This also happened with the 10 gig HD that I orignally was installing XP on.

please any help is tremendously appreciated. reply here or to my email. Thanks all! -Stef

You did not look close enough ..... it was there. It gave a link to a MS
site. It can discribe the problem and solution better than I can. Good Luck

I also found this which might be the problem. Jym
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:
a.. One or more of the random access memory (RAM) modules that are
installed on your computer are faulty.
b.. The RAM configuration is incompatible with Windows XP.
RESOLUTION
To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
1.. Remove some of the memory modules that are installed on the computer.
Leave at least the amount of RAM required for the computer to start and run
Windows XP.

The recommended amount of RAM to run Windows XP is 128 megabytes (MB). The
minimum is 64 MB and the maximum is 4 gigabytes.

For example, if two 256-MB memory modules are installed on your computer,
remove one of the memory modules.
2.. Restart the computer, and then run Setup.
3.. If you again receive the error message that is described in the
"Symptoms" section of this article, proceed to step 4.
4.. Remove a different memory module, or install the RAM in a different
memory slot.
5.. Restart your computer, and then rerun Setup.

You may need to restart your computer several times in order to identify
the specific memory modules that are not working correctly.
