Stop Messenger Starting with Outlook Express...

Posted: 11-25-2003, 11:02 PM
I'm currently using MS Messenger 5 (not MSN Messenger).
My problem is I don't want it to start running
automatically when I start Outlook Express. Any way to
do this? Many thanks, mezcal.

Greetings,

Yes there is. Simply close Outlook Express, then download and run this .reg file:

thank you kindly Jonathan. Great site too. Is running
the .reg file doing the same thing as the 'step-by-step'
procedure on your site
(http://messenger.jonathankay.com/allsteps.aspx?ID=8)

Cheers, mezcal.

Hi Mezcal,

Actually it's not, what's on my site will only work if you don't use the Contacts frame in
Outlook Express and Messenger *may* still be called. The .reg file eliminates any
integration between Messenger and Outlook Express.

Jonathan,

your .reg file worked like a charm. Completely removed
all integration - just what I was looking for. Many,
many thanks, mezcal.
