Stopping Auto file download?

Posted: 10-08-2003, 12:07 PM
Hi,
Not sure how to fix this, when I go to a site and
click to download a file I don't get the option anymore
to 'save to disk' or 'open in correct location'. The
file just starts downloading. I can't always right click
on the link and do 'save as', because some site disable
it. Is there a way in IE6 to turn this back on to ask
first? I have WinXP Pro SP1 with all the updates
installed.

Thanks John

To get the download dialog box, enable the "confirm open after download"
option for that filetype:

Click "Start" -> "Program Files" -> "Windows Explorer".
Then click "Tools" -> "Folder Options".
Change to the "File Type" tabs.
Scroll down to locate the file type. Highlight the filetype (example :"PPT
Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation") and click the "Advanced" button.
Then check the option "confirm open after download".

Also, set the "NoSelectDownloadDir" to "0"
