stuttering sound

a couple of days ago i formatted my PC and re-installed
everything, a thing which i have done a lot of times on
many different systems. anyway, since then my sound
stutters in any media file i play (with winamp, MP or
anything), in games also.
seems like a RAM problem, but the fact that i didnt have
that problem before (using the same hardware as now) and
the fact that i have 384MB DDR makes it weird...

please help me!! i'm going crazy with this...
