Survey for a book: best anti-virus for Vista

Posted: 11-15-2007, 02:35 AM

I've written a book on desktop Internet security called -*Lock the
Boogie Man Out of Your Computer*-. I'm looking for feedback on the best
anti-virus for Vista (both 64 and 32), in free and paid categories.

Share your real-world experiences and you could get quoted in the
upcoming new edition.

Thanks much!

Hello Tom, I have been using ZoneAlarm Security Suite Version 7.1.078.00.
Since July 2007 ZA has blocked 1,384 intrusions. 0 have been high rated. I
also have a

ZoneAarm Z100G Router by Checkpoint which sends weekly reports and blocks
over 1000 illegal intrusions every week, mainly out of Asia. I have used
Norton Internet Security,

but have found it to be far to intrusive in the operating system by slowing
down processes to a crawl. ZoneAlarm, I've found to more or less sit on
top of the system and doesn't

slow down Vista32. ZA has the best Firewall of all Programs I've tried
including(McAfee,Nortons IS Suite, Panda) My system : Intel E6850
processor, DG33FB Board,

4GB Ram, Creative X-fi card, all SATA drives and SATA optical drives, (2)
eSATA external hard drives. Maybe to much info!! Hope it helps. Jim.

Asking for "what is the best AV" is like asking what color car is more
reliable.

Granted, it's all personal opinion.

I'm also interested in the false perception of security some of these
programs provide. I'm sure everyone can tell me which ones let the viri
through and which ones appear to really be working.

My personal security favorite is Hatchet. The user simply takes the
hatchet and chops the network cable in two.
