| My system has started to diesel badly the past few days. Windows Vista Ultimate. This process would seem the prime suspect. I have PC Tools with anti spyware & AV installed. My Google searches tell me this process is associated with Nortons. What should I do with this? | Guest

| I don't know how you're coming up with Norton, but it doesn't seem to a part of a Norton solution. http://www.liutilities.com/products/...ibrary/swdsvc/ "Vigilante" <kewlvigilante@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:5C86B6BD-4B64-4295-ADB5-67824D587061@microsoft.com... | It was PC Tools and smax4pnp.exe eating the resources. I notified PC Tools, and I hope they respond in a reasonable time. I uninstalled PC Tools in the meantime, mainly the spyware doctor. I also disabled the smax4pnp.exe from my msconfig startup. Now my system has ran without fail around 2-16% instead of 60-100% at idle. I realize development is facing a great deal of issues from both Microsoft's side and 3rd party side. The tools were fine until the last weeks updates from both sides. Hopefully the parties involved can approach with optimism rather than letting the junkyard dog attitudes we can all be prone to have their way. Thanks for your time.
