Sync Local Folders

Posted: 03-26-2007, 12:11 PM
Is there any way to sync with Windows Mail's logical folders store with the
actual file system mail store?

I ask this because I imported my folders from OE. I then logically
rearranged these in WM. However when I search from the shell the results
appear in \Local Folders\Imported Folders\ etc. They are not synced
logically with Windows Mail. It would be nice if they were.

Other than that I think the team has done a fine job on the update. I'm a
little disappointed hotmail accounts are no longer supported, basically
means I have to open Windows Mail and Outlook 2007 to check my email. An
annoyance.

Only if you're using IMAP because WinMail does not support HTTP and those
would be the only ways to haveit able to sync messages on the server on a
regular basis and not using the keep on serveroption for a POP accout.

If you are using a POP3 account it's more than likely the messages are
already removed from the server to your computer.

Canyou please explain the differnce between the POP3 that keeps popping up
each time I try to send/receive mail.

What are my settings supposed to be? I am getting very discouraged with
trying to set up my email on my lap top. I hav to keep going back to desk
top to retrieve mail.

POP3 is the type of account. (IMAP and HTTP are two other types).

POP and SMTP are protocols and are assigned ports on the IP you are
connected.

Each have a friendly name assigned such as pop.example.com and
smpt.example.com

Find the POP and SMTP server names for the your ISP. Look on their web site
and search thru their help section or call them and ask what they are.

I don't know what they are because I don't know how you connect to the
Internet.

I was talking about syncing Windows Mail Logical folder structure, with the
actual file structure on the physical disk.

You have to move the messages from the Imported node of the tree yourself.
But I guess that's what you mean.
