Syncing my PPC SD card to WMP10

When I try to sync my PPC SD card to my WMP10 it will only convert mp3's that
fit with in the settings that I have selected. Ther reason that I am doing
this is that WMP10 is supposed to scale down the mp3 to a lower bit rate
rather than the bit rate of the original mp3, which for a lot of my library
has a bit rate of 320. My setting is set to scale it down to 160, but any
file that is originally larger than 160 kps i get an error message. What can
I do to get it to scale down these larger mp3 files?
