SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE message

Hi. I've had XP on this system for over a half-year, and
in the last week or two I've started getting this error on
startup that reads "SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE: INSERT SYSTEM
DISK AND PRESS ENTER". My PC will only start if the
install CD is in the drive. I have made no changes to the
hard disks, and the "boot.ini" file seems correct. (I
believe that this error is occuring before "boot.ini"
would be accessed). Can anybody help me here?
