System "Delay" After Replacement of Boot Drive

Posted: 07-01-2003, 09:28 PM
Hi,

Any suggestions on fixing the following would be much appreciated. I
recently had my 60gb ATA boot disk harddrive fail. I replaced it with a new
80gb model from the same manufacturer, reinstalled XP Home and then
installed all relevant updates from the Windows Update website along with my
normal apps and backed-up data. When I awake the machine from suspend, the
machine comes back up to the desktop and I can move the mouse, but the
machine otherwise seems to be stalled for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3
minutes, after which time anything that was attempted to be run while it was
stalled will then open up and the computer acts fine.

This never happened before I installed the new drive and reinstalled
Windows. Obviously, there is something different about my system state now
as compared to my previous hard drive, but I do not know what it could be.
