system files

To replace missing Microsoft OS or system files click
start\run and type in sfc /scannow and be sure to have
your XP disc handy to put in the drive. You must put the
space after sfc and before the / . This will replace any
missing or corrupt OS files. Good luck.

i am quite agreed with "the reverend xp",but you said all the .exe file
can't run properly, i suggest you check the registry.
now you locate hkey_classes_root\.exe,left click it in the right part find
the key "default",make sure the value is exefile
